Yes, the scents are quite something when you receive your plants and open the packaging!! Even the small plants give off a powerful aroma and as they grow this becomes positively intense.

I received my collection of 12 scented geraniums 3 weeks ago. They arrived in excellent condition and the scent on opening the packet was superb. I potted the plants up and they have settled in to my conservatory. They are all growing well and 2 are flowering.
A good range of scents and leaf shapes. I am a very delighted customer.

I was delighted with the plantsI received from you in April which arrived promptly and beautifully packaged. Since then they have all thrived and the p. tomentosum and p. attar of roses are both huge. I think this is the start of an addiction.

My order arrived in perfect condition and the plants are now all potted up and looking really good. I hope that they will give me many years of pleasure as their predecessors did, which all dies when the greenhouse roof fell in on them last winter due to the weight of the snow! Ouch!! We had quite a few worrying days last winter too. Snow at times was almost 2 feet thick. We're currently replacing glass with polycarbonate sheets which is much sturdier.

Dinah ordered our Special Offer of a Selection of 8 Jumbo Starter sized Scented Geraniums for £30 = £3.75 each incl. FREE P & P to the UK. We first introduced our Jumbo Starter size early this year (2011) and have been absolutely amazed by the response. So far (June) we have been posting out quite large Jumbo Starters as we had planned well in advance and did have quite a lot growing on of most of the types. The response has been incredible and the majority of our Customers who have ordered Jumbo Starters have received extra large plants that are of exceptional quality and value for the price.

We have set out a clear Policy in our Ordering, Payment & Delivery Information and when a Customer encounters a problem we will always go out of our way to resolve things. The only thing we ever ask is that we are communicated with in a pleasant manner when a problem arises and this is exactly what Ann did; she emailed us with details and we swiftly posted out 2 replacement plants. She's happy...we're happy that we could put things right.

Thanks Heather, for a great feedback! We do take a lot of care in how we select individual plants and with our packing. We aim to provide our Customers with the 'WOW' factor when they receive their Order. Each plant is individually bagged or wrapped in tissue, which helps to keep them moist whilst they are travelling to their new homes. Each plant has its own waterproof laser printed label with the type name and the scent for ongoing reference. The basic care leaflet we include is to get everyone started and there's lots more helpful information in the Hot Topics section of our website.

My first order arrived yesterday, well-packed and in good condition. Postie saw fit to shove the box through the letterbox to drop 4ft onto the parquet floor! Hi Sandra. With so many beautiful scents and such diverse growing habits it really is so difficult to make a slection from the 100+ types that we currently grow. You are quite correct in saying that this might just be the beginning....we started off with just 6 types and still are on the look out for the more unusual. I did say that I would stop at 30 types...this then rose to 50, then 70....after that Guy just gave up!! These days he just never knows what is likely to arrive in the post. Happy Days!

Hello all, Due to the terrible weather, we had to wait (and quite rightly) for nearly three weeks for despatch of our plants. They arrived three or four days after your despatch email. A couple of them looked a little sad but we re-potted them almost straight away and they are all happily settled into their own pots in trays on the kitchen window sill. In the 3 weeks since they arrived, they have all come on in leaps and bounds even the delicate ones and we are watching over them daily. Thirsty little beggars though! we are looking forward to seeing and SMELLING them in all their full glory in the warmer weather. Many thanks for all your assistance and care. Hope you've turned a corner with the COLD weather now!

Google checkout slowed the order down but when the plants arrived they were in excellent condition. All potted up and growing on already. Also bought some leaves to add to homemade apple jelly, delicious!

We really do apologise that you had to wait an additioanl week for your order, due to Google Checkout holding on to your money for longer than they should do. We offer Google Checkout as an alternative to PayPal as we know from Feedback that not everyone is prepared to use PayPal. We do not think it is fair that Google holds on to our Customers money as long as they do and we think that it is quite unethical of them to be doing this.
The delay apart, thank you for your positive comments and, yes, the leaves are an excellent herbal flavouring in lots of recipes. One of my favourites is damson jam with Graveolens leaves + a hint of ginger.

Thanks Tony for your comments, much appreciated. Let's hope temperatures do not drop so low this coming winter as they did last year. Bubble wrap is always useful, even if you just cover the plants at night and then remove it during the day. Before we had electricity installed in the tunnel & greenhouse we used to run an extension cable from the house and use an ordinary convector heater and amazingly it did work. We'll look forward to hearing from you next year and perhaps you'll be able to send us some photos of the magnificent beauties that your 'babies' will turn in to. Thanks again.

THIS IS FEEDBACK ON THE NEW COURIER SERVICE THAT WE INTRODUCED JULY 2010 TO IRELAND
Dear Annie & Guy
Just a quick line to confirm arrival of the parcel yesterday at about 4.30pm. It was delivered by our regular An Post delivery man, John Paul, and I opened it immediately. Bar a couple of tiny leaves from one specimen, all the plants were in first class order and were potted up within the hour.
So I can recommend the service without hesitation and once again thank you for the replacements and the very welcome additions of BB Victoria and Pink Capricorn.
Regarding the packaging, the moist tissue wraps are far easier to handle than the plastic bags which need to be removed but I imagine you are already well ahead of me with this observation.
I'll be forwarding details to you on the Swansea-Cork ferry and in the meanwhile, all best wishes to you both.

Thanks Nona for your help as monitoring postal delivery is difficult. It would appear that in general throughout the UK there are a lot of partnership deals going on between the Royal Mail/Couriers and now the Irish An Post/Couriers. It can be quite difficult to identify who is providing a fast and efficient service as well as being good value for money. The Royal Mail to the UK still remains the best option for us from here in Northern Ireland, as Couriers are far too expensive. We are really pleased that we have finally managed to 'crack' the North to the South of Ireland dilemma as the Royal Mail was ridiculously expensive. We think it is ironic that we can send a package to the UK Mainland by Royal Mail for around £3, yet a similar package by the RM to Southern Ireland would have been nearer £10!! I guess that is the price of being in Europe!! The new Courier service to the South is much more affordable and we have been able to actually reduce the P & P for our Irish Customers and we do hope that next year this will encourage more people to discover our beautiful Scented Geraniums.
As for the pacakging, yes we are always attempting to improve on this and the blister packs have really been a great hit this year. It's never easy sending plants by post but we have definitely improved this year compared with 2009 and have had hardly any reports of plants suffering in transit.

Thanks Annette. We had such a rush on Orange Fizz that we were running a little low on the sized Starter that we prefer to send out. We do try to be really fair with everyone and if a particular plant is slightly smaller than usual we do send out 2 plants instead of 1. At this time of the year, August, when we post out a Medium size they would be nearer to a mature and are exceptional value for money. The mediums are brilliant if a Customer is adept at taking cuttings!!
Orange Fizz has been a real star addition to our Catalogue this year and has an amazing orange scent, attractive leaf texture, shape and colour and flowers prolifically. Excellent also as an all year round house plant as it has a medium height/spread growing habit and doesn't become too large.

I want to let you know that the plants arrived safely. More than that, they were in perfect condition every one of them. Since potting them up I kept them on a north facing windowsill and they grew on well. Today, they are in the garden for the rest of the summer, potted on again and flowering beautifully.

Thanks Malcolm for the great comments. We think that you will be pleasantly surprised at just how fast the Starter Sized plants grow. Outside they will continue to flourish right through to the end of September and in to October - until the first frosts. In the home many will continue to flower all year round. If you are growing the plants outside it is important to bring them inside somewhere prior to the first frosts which are usually in mid to late October here in the UK & Ireland.

Lucky winner of your June competition here! I'm happy to say my wonderful prize of 12 scented starter plants arrived safely yesterday, and I'm delighted with them!
I especially ♥ love ♥ the "Crispum Variegatum". With it's yellow tipped leaves and shape, it reminds me of a little Christmas tree!
But my favourite scent has to be "Attar of Roses"... it really does smell like an old English rose. Just beautiful!

My 26 scented geraniums arrived at 7.57 this morning - beautifully packaged to afford them maximum moisture and minimum damage during transition. The Courier said "if only all deliveries were as simple as this - they gave exact instructions - right to the door..........", before I even had a chance to inquire if he had any difficulty finding the place. I am delighted and can now have the little plants safely potted up before I go away. Thank you so much for your help. I am sure that I will shop with you again.

I was very wary about buying plants sight unseen, as when I've tried it before, (from a daily newspaper plant catalogue,) I ended up receiving very poor quality plants... spindly, almost leafless twigs, which quickly died.
But after reading great customer reviews on another site, I decided to place an order here for the "12 Scented Geranium starter pack", and I'm so pleased I did! I received not only very healthy, robust plants, but also excellent aftercare service.

Thank you Jennifer for letting us have your Feedback. We are really pleased that all but one of the plants did make it in excellent condition to your daughter in Menorca. However, as we do clearly state on our website any plants that are posted out of the UK the order is placed on an 'own risk' basis and this is clearly stated in our Ordering, Payment & Delivery Information. Unfortunately, many postal services in EU countries are nowhere as good as the Royal Mail. I can categorically state that all of the plants that I personally picked for your daughter did leave our Nursery in excellent condition and as Mabel Grey did suffer during her journey to Menorca we can only put this down to rough handling of the very good packaging that we use. Very sorry that we do not guarantee our plants to any EU country, even including Southern Ireland, but I think that you would agree that a loss of £1.67 can be accepted for such a long journey that the plants did undertake.

I have a friend here talking about plants and he has been trying to get a lemon scented geranium from seed off the internet or from garden centres with no joy. We both live in Coventry and he wants it as a plant but where can we get seed from? I would like to sow the seed now or in a month or 2. Or where is there a nursery where we could go and buy a scented geranium plant?

Hi Kelly and thanks for contacting us.
Look no further!! We grow 70 different types of scented leaf pelargonium, including several lemon varieties, which you will find in our online Catalogue.
Firstly, as a matter of interest, the correct name for scented geraniums is scented leaf pelargoniums. There are several groups of pelargoniums(commonly referred to as geraniums) and the scented group is an individual classification.
Growing the scented types from seed. It is not recommended that any of the scented group is grown from seed as they are not likely to come true to type, i.e. the seed grows into a cutting and then matures but it isn’t likely to be like the Parent plant that the seed was harvested from. This explains why it is difficult to buy seed. Also, the seed tends to be very fine and dust like and is often difficult to germinate. I am aware that there is a particular person on ebay who regularly sells scented leaf seed but I really do not recommend this route. Also this person is not naming the types correctly and it is due to amateurs such as these that the correct name becomes really messed up.
If your friend is looking for a lemon scented leaf pelargonium it would be usual (and is recommended) to buy in a small plant, such as our Starter size, and then grow on. As it reaches maturity you would then take further cuttings to increase how many you have.
There are many different lemon scenteds, as you will see in our online Catalogue and you might be surprised to know that they do all smell different. The scented leaf group are classified as herbs and as such the leaves have many uses and are used in recipes, cosmetics, herbal preparations, medicinal and as a sensory aid.
It is very common for most amateur growers to refer to pelargoniums as geraniums but the latter is a completely different type of garden plant and would be a perennial which is left to grow in the garden all year round. The geraniums also look entirely different and do not have aromatic leaves.
Scented Leaf Pelargoniums are a highly specialised group of plants and there is a huge worldwide following. They are quite easy to grow as long as a few basic rules are adhered to and the stunning aromatic leaves, with so many different available scents, does indeed make them one of the most versatile plants that you will come across.

Thanks Sheila for the positive feedback. Once the Starter sized Scenteds are potted I think you will be quite surprised at how quickly they put on new growth, even at this time of the year. Indoors they tend to have a lesser dormancy period as the heat and light stops them from going to 'sleep'. With correct water, heat, light and feeding many of the scented geraniums will remain in flower over the winter months. We think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Generally to most UK destinations parcels are delivered within 48 hours although to more remote areas this may take a day or so longer. The postal strikes are giving us a few headaches at present and so far we haven't heard when they will end. Thank you for contacting us. The answer is that plants may only be shipped by us to the UK and EU due to UK/European Regulations. This is to prevent the transportation of diseases and pests around the world.
There are specialist growers of Scenteds in the US and it might be an idea to order direct for delivery to the US. If you do a search through Google, - US Scented Geraniums or US Scented Pelargoniums - this should bring up a few websites for you.

Hi,
Thanks so much for the plants, which have all been potted up ready to go into school in September. The only one that seems poorly is Graveolens, who is curling up and droopy. However, I'm hoping that it's just the shock of the journey and it will perk up in a few days.
It was lovely to see shredded newspaper used as packing by the way, which went straight onto my compost heap. Many thanks again for the lovely plants, I'm sure the children and staff alike will enjoy them.

Couldn't believe the wonderful scent that escaped from the box on opening and they are all (with the exception of one casualty) planted and looking exceptionally healthy.
The one casualty was Tomentosum Peppermint. However, I have planted the shoot without the plug and will let you know if it takes.

Susan had a problem with one of the plants she had received and contacted us to let us know - which we really do ask our Customers to do should this ever arise. Here is our email response that we sent her:
Sorry to hear of Crispum Variegatum’s demise. Very occasionally the
odd SG doesn’t take the travelling too well to their new home and they
miss their fellow friends here at our Nursery.
Not to worry though we’ll post you another CV free of charge this coming week. Hopefully, the replacement will have a stronger will to live and settles more happily in the loving home that we are sure you will provide.

Thanks Jeremy for your Feedback which we really do appreciate. We hope the following answers the points that you have raised:
1. Debiting customers debit/credit cards at the point of posting out the order? - we are a small Nursery specialising in Scented Leaf Pelargoniums, although we do grow other types of plants that visitors would buy here. The Order Management System that we use has worked brilliantly for us and does keep Customers informed at all stages of their Order being processed. We do state on all order updates that a Customer is welcome to Contact Us with any query regarding their order and we do aim to reply within 24 hours. There isn't the facility on our System to receive an Order and then charge it later and in 3 years of trading this is the first time that this point has been raised. I think it would be fair to say that when goods/services are purchased over the internet the vast majority of companies would take payment at the time of a Customer placing an Order and, indeed, when we buy goods it's never a problem for us that we pay up front. When I have bought plants over the internet I prefer to pay at the time of Ordering as I find being charged later inconvenient as I never know when my account is likely to be debited; this being as most of the larger companies do not operate a good Customer Service Policy and do not keep the Customer informed of Order progress, such as we do. There are pluses and minuses for both and whatever we put in place would not suit everyone.....
2. Suppliers being impressive point - first and foremost we are Growers and our website aims to promote a wider interest of Scented Leaf Pelargoniums. Thanks to Guy's excellent web promotional skills on average we constantly receive in excess of 30,000 hits per month and he manages to keep our site in the No 1 or 2 spot on the front page of Google. We have received enquiries from just about every country in the World, even though we may only post out to the UK and EU due to plant regulations.
2. Order Confirmation - Throughout this season (2009) most Customers have received their Orders within 14 days, which compared to some of the larger Plant and Seed Catalogues is an excellent record. We are a little puzzled why you challenged anticipated dispatch at this stage as we only received your Order a few days ago and it is currently being processed and you have been emailed an anticipated dispatch date.
We do really appreciate your comments Jeremy as without Feedback we cannot know what our Customers are thinking. Needless to say we cannot make alterations for each suggestion that we receive but, rest assured, we have taken your comments on board and Guy and I will discuss these at length.

As for keeping mosquitoes at bay Richard isn't the first customer who has mentioned this but we don't know if this is a fact? Observing our many SG's lots of different flying insects are attracted by the lovely scents although we haven't noticed any mozzies!

Having lost all except one of my scented geraniums this year due to bad winter weather (normally they survive outside here in Cornwall, but this year they didn't even those in the unheated greenhouse) I was very pleased to find your website, and be able to replace a few of them. The plants survived their 500 mile trip and arrived in excellent condition; they have been potted on and are enjoying the warm sun as we speak! They will most definitely be cosseted this winter!

Thanks Richard for the feedback. We have had similar comments from quite a few of our Customers who live near coastal regions. This past winter was particularly hard and we experienced a lot of really bad frosty nights. Our heating bill for the winter quarter was more than double but our little beauties are worth this. We would recommend that everyone who leaves their scenteds outside over the winter months keeps up with the weather forecasts and if clear skies are mentioned an horticultural fleece is used to cover the plants. It's frost settling on the leaves resulting in burning that kills the plants and not actually the cold. If you don't have fleece to hand try covering with newspaper, bubble wrap or even old net curtains. Hope that helps.

Hi Both,
Have just released the SG’s from their captivity after their long journey.
We look forward to caring for them all, and seeing that they have a good life.
As a blind person, I have enjoyed thirty odd years of SGs, though some of your varieties I have not seen before. I enjoy them myself, and use them as a talking point with groups of other blind people. These new varieties will take their place in ensuring that I can go back to places I have been before with new scents.

Hi thank you first for our scented geraniums plants which are now growing great, My sister and I had booked a long weekend in Ireland to see our sister in law and when I saw where the plants had come from I just had to go and visit you both, I would like to thank you both for showing us all around and spending all that time with us (nearly 2 hours) we all enjoyed our selves and found it very interesting, the plants that we bought have arrived home safe and are doing well. We posted the first parcel out 1st Class in early April 09 and unfortunately the Postman didn't leave a card for Jo to go and pick it up from the Sorting Office. The parcel was eventually returned to us here in Northern Ireland 6 weeks later!! Needless to say the poor little beauties didn't survive and all that was left were dead rotting stems. Jo did use our Contact us page to let us know that her parcel hadn't arrived and we dispatched a duplicate order the following Monday at no additional cost. it is our Policy to offer exceptional Customer Service and we assess a query on individual merit and mostly plants would be replaced if a Customer wasn't happy This is a rare occurrence but, of course, there will always be the odd problem and we always do our best to resolve things. We believe that 99.9% of our Customers are genuine and it would only be a very tiny minority who would take advantage of our generous natures.
When you Order from us you can be assured that we appreciate all of our Customers and we do go out of our way to provide a very personalised service.

I have just potted the plants, however, the Gravelons stem had come away from the netting, loose in the packet, and as such doesn\'t have any roots. I have put the stem in soil. Is this likely to grow or should I re-order another one?

We always value feedback and this helps us to improve our service and we are currently looking at an alternative source of packaging.

A massive thank you for the generous replacements after my order was lost in the post and the plants are perfect! I am a beginner in gardening but when I found out about the scented geraniums I just had to have them.
I potted them up but a lil bit of the jiffy netting is showing, would I have to repot them so its all covered? Sorry, I\'m a COMPLETE beginner.

Annie & Guy says: The Jiffy 7 should be below the compost level and shouldn't be showing. We think that you need to pot a little bit deeper in the compost to just below the bottom set of leaves. Hope that helps.

Thank-you so very much for the truly lovely geraniums and the extra peppermint one (which has quickly become my favourite). They are wonderful.....and growing well, which is amazing for me!
Unfortunately, my father, passed away the day they arrived, and so the poor wee things were left to sit on the side board for a week, semi forgotten in my priorities whilst I was busy organising other things. However, when I eventually got around to them, I found the plants still bright and healthy..... a small but cheery reminder of all things good and happy during a sad time.
Dad loved scented geraniums, they reminded him of his childhood and he had helped me choose these particular plants, and so I have an extra special reason to love every single one of mine.
Thanks to you both. I know I\'ll be back for some more very soon.

Occasionally courier/postal damage does happen and if this should be the case we would always replace a damaged plant. I have just received delivery of my order,#65856, and I am most grateful for your very swift attention. On inspection all looked well, except my Prince of Orange American. The stem was detached from the root ball and looked as though it had rotted thro. I have pushed the stem back down into the netting, but will it continue to grow? your advice would be appreciated.

Plants arrived on time, all in excellent condition but one, Filicifolium, which was broken at the stem. But has been repaired with sellotape so I hope it survives.

Geraniums arrived in Edinburgh entirely intact and were potted up after a wee rest to allow for the trauma of being in the dark for so long. I am delighted to have these as I have been searching for a favourite scented geranium my granny grew but which gave up the ghost about the same time as she did. Thanks again.
